In the upcoming Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred, Warlock class offers players a distinctly different combat

style. Abyss Hellfire Build focuses on transforming the battlefield into a fiery inferno, creating devastating area-of-effect damage from very early levels.

This theoretical build aims to provide a smooth and efficient leveling experience from 1 to 70, achieving excellent performance without relying on specific aspects or rare gear. The following systematically explains all the conditions and mechanics required for this build.

Class Core Resources

Before mastering the specific skill combinations of this build, it’s essential to understand Warlock class’s unique dual-resource system.

Warlock has two resource bars: Wrath and Dominance. Wrath, located on the left side of the sphere, is a regular resource, quickly accumulated through basic skills and then consumed through core skills to deal higher damage.

Dominance, located on the right side of the sphere, has a base maximum of 30 points and is used to summon more powerful demons. Its recharge rate is slow, approximately 1 point per second. For Abyss Hellfire upgrade build, Dominance is not the focus; the core operation of the build revolves around the generation and consumption of Wrath.

Skill Tree

The following will introduce five aspects: basic skills, core skills, mobility skills, buff skills, and metamorphosis skills.

Basic Skills

The build requires 1 point in the basic skill Molten Bomb and selecting Cluster Bomb variant. This variant splits the skill of throwing one Molten Bomb into six Molten Bombs, and if the cast is successful, it can further split into twelve.

The key is that Wrath Leveling Path of this skill must be selected, ensuring that each individual hit of a Molten Bomb generates Wrath.

In this way, a single cast can theoretically generate 16 to 22 points of Wrath, far exceeding the base 10 points. IGGM’s testing proved that keeping Molten Bomb at level 1 is sufficient for this build, as the skill serves only as a Wrath generator, not a damage source, and unnecessary points should not be invested in its damage level.

Core Skills

Hell Fracture is the primary damage skill for this build and should be prioritized for level 12. This skill creates a zone of fire that deals damage and triggers two additional explosions over 15 seconds.

Fractured Abyss must be selected to grant the skill Abyss Skill tag, allowing you to pull enemies into the fire zone – extremely useful when low-level Wrath is insufficient.

Also, Volatility Leveling Path should be selected. When the player stands within Hell Fracture area, they immediately gain Volatility buff, increasing the damage of subsequent Hell Fracture skills by 50%.

Mobility Skills

The build requires unlocking Nether Step as a movement tool and selecting Portals Leveling Path, allowing you to teleport between two points to improve mobility. Further points should be allocated to Extra Charge and Movement Speed Leveling Path to make map traversal during leveling faster. This skill should eventually be leveled to 12.

Buff Skills

Sigil of Chaos, in its base effect, grants Volatility buff when the player is standing within it and causes enemies to explode, further increasing area damage.

Hellfire Aura Leveling Path must be selected to make the skill last for 15 seconds, the same as its cooldown, thus achieving 100% uptime. Additionally, Volatility Casts and Volatility Duration Leveling Path should be allocated.

Metamorphosis Skills

Metamorphosis is a crucial endgame skill in this build. Basic Metamorphosis replaces the entire skill bar with a new set of Archfiend skills, which is undesirable in this build. Therefore, Terror Demon Leveling Path must be selected to allow the player to use their original skills normally in demon form.

This Leveling Path also provides additional skill levels to Abyss skill, allowing Hell Fracture to gain up to 12 levels of enhancement. Additionally, Damage Scaling Leveling Path should be selected to gain more multiplicative damage in Demon Form, along with Phase 2 Enrage, sacrificing a small amount of life for extra multiplicative damage.

Soul Shard

In this build, Soul Shard must be Ritualist Shard. The effect of Ritualist Shard is: each stack of Overpower increases the damage of Occult skills by 4%, and every 2 stacks increases the skill’s range by 10%.

When 4 stacks of Overpower are accumulated, Occult Abyss skills will apply an additional Hex when hitting an enemy, increasing the critical strike chance against enemies. Additionally, Occult Hellfire skills have a 30% chance to grant Volatility buff for 4 seconds when cast.

Twisted Fragment’s function is simple: for every 50 Wrath points spent, it automatically adds 1 stack of Overpower, easily maintaining the stack count with no need to actively stack it.

Additionally, when Occult Abyss skill is under Volatility, it immediately explodes. Ritualist Shard can also summon a Volark, which passively stores 4 additional stacks of Overpower, and actively using it directly adds Overpower stacks and Wrath.

For late-game or max-level builds, Abyssal Fragment is more powerful, dealing double damage every 4 seconds, but Ritualist Shard remains the preferred choice during the leveling phase.

Gear Requirements

Some of the previously announced Aspects, if acquired early, will significantly enhance the build’s strength. For example, Insidious Aspect allows Abyss skills to deal more damage based on Shadow Form level, and combined with Metamorphosis’s Terror Demon Leveling Path, it can grant 4 Shadow Form stacks per second, easily stacking to 10.

Aspect of Ritual Synthesis reduces the cooldown of Occult skills when casting Hellfire, allowing for more frequent use of skills like Nether Step.

Using Abyss skill simultaneously reduces the resource cost of Occult skill, making consecutive Hell Fracture casts increasingly cheaper; while Aspect of Voracious Rage further reduces resource costs, making consecutive Hell Fracture casts even easier.

If you want to skip the time spent farming Aspects, you can directly buy Diablo 4 items at IGGM.com – your one-stop shop for affordable Gold, rare Aspects, and all the gear you need to fuel this Abyss Hellfire Build from level 1 to 70.

Additionally, Spine of Taphamet is a previously announced Unique item that makes Hell Fracture deal at least double damage with each cast and inflicts a triple fracture every third cast. This item is not required for upgrades, but if it drops early, it will greatly simplify the upgrade process.

This Abyssal Hellfire upgrade build revolves around the area-of-effect damage of Hell Fracture, combined with the rapid energy regeneration of Molten Bomb, offering a balanced performance in terms of mobility and area-of-effect clearing.

It allows for a smooth leveling process from rank 1 to rank 70 without requiring specific aspects or unique items. This build boasts a stable resource cycle, making it suitable for the early stages of Lord of Hatred progression. IGGM.com recommends that new players try this build first.
